Hank Jones in the new AP!

New Releases - this isn't the article, the photo is!

4/19 Hank Jones Saturday Night Thunder Undecided

This is awesome. I'm so happy for Mike, Nick, Shawn and Seth!

Seriously, Mike has done so much to keep the Erie Hardcore scene alive and well, and for the longest time never did anything with it (that I knew of). They are some serious fun to watch and they deserve all the fame and fun they get... especially the fun. I just want to point out that I knew them (at least Nick and Mike) before you!

Namedrop GO!

PS. Thanks, Tom, for the bandwidth!

Pen Gymnastics

Pen Gymnastics

These guys are incredibles, they play with pens so fast and have many different tricks!

You know that trick where you spin the pen around your thumb? Take that x500 and you have these guys. Imagine all the chicks you could pick up in study hall, or at the DMV when you're filling out your forms, or at the clinic!

Seriously amazing, I can't even get a pen around my hand ONCE, let along like that... ahh if only I was Thai!

Mario never looked so good.

I am 8-bit

WARNING: MASSIVE amount of pics, sorry 56k.

This is simply amazing.

Here's about 25 paintings, screenprints, graf, etc. that are all based around old school gaming. My personal fav's are Tim Tomkinson's "Hunter Thompson Duck Hunt", Isaac Pierro's "Our Lady of Luigi", and Haze's graf-style Wing-ed Mario.

I'd hang almost any of these peices on my wall!

Just pray it's not Jar-Jar!

George Lucas Plans 'Star Wars' Spin-Off Series

At first, according to StarWars.com, Lucas said, "There's none of the main characters from I, II, and III" in the series, but stopped mid-sentence and said that "that's not exactly true now that I think about it."

To be honest, I'm excited, but a little afraid. Afraid that he's going to screw this up like he screwed up episodes 1 and 2... the jury on 3 is still out I guess.

I'm discovering that I'm more a Star Wars nerd than I thought.

Language, Semantics and Hermanutics

World Wide Words

Gyp is a moderately common expression, mainly in the UK, but also in Commonwealth countries, though my gut feeling is that it’s now mostly used by older people. It appears in fixed phrases that refer to some part of the body being painful, as in this example from the London Evening Standard in August 2003: “I turned my ankle in the game and it’s still giving me gyp.”

The other meaning you give has no connection—it’s a derogatory term that is usually said to derive from the word gypsy...

I've often said that I wish Edinboro University had offered a linguistics major, I would have doubled up. I absolutely love learning about where words came from, how they morphed from more ancient languages, the morphology of phonetic sounds and all of that stuff.

Michael Quinion does a great job at tracing phrases and words back to where they originated and sometimes is able to find how they became the word or phrase they have in today's linguistic map.

I just think it's funny that nobody knows why people from Indiana are known as Hoosiers.

Evolution - The Game

Evolution :: Your hub to the world of Evolution

I've been playing this the past few days. I'm still not quite sure how to play this game... really what the goal is. I need to take the time to look into it more.

The game seems interesting so far... if you want to join "my" planet. It's name is Sariel - the key to get into it is "Elohim".

I feel lime more and more of a nerd every day.

Love At First Bite

The Account

I came across this account of a couple who decided that instead of buying each other rings, they'd make it more permanent... bite off each other's finger up to the first knuckle.

For some reason, Carrie wasn't up for it

'Tis Been A While

I know it's been a while. I've about had it with dial-up internet. For the next couple of weeks I'll have constant access to the interweb and hope to come across some goodies.

I decided to include a picture of me that my wife took in college as part of a project for a photography class... no real reason, I just like it a lot.

"Why Bother Seeing the World For Real?"

Google Sightseeing

I spent a good hour or so the other day browsing satellite images on http://maps.google.com. So, I definitely find this page interesting. It shows different pictures and links to the actual Google satellite image of it. The thing that sucks is that the satellite that captured Erie sucks... it's like paint blotches.

The one of Dallas is a little wierd. I like "Dave" and the one with the algae ponds...

Best Buy + 57 $2 bills = Jail Time

A tale of customer service, justice and currency as funny as a $2 bill

I just want to say that I've been hearing nothingbut bad things about Best Buy lately... I actually emailed them today about the situation and am anxious to get a response back.

In the mean time, also check out Best Buy Sux.com... it's entertaining if nothing else.

Staying Light Later is a Good Thing

Congress may extend daylight-saving time

I hope they pass this thing through! Later sunset from March thru November! Seriously, I think we should always have our clocks set "ahead" (as in Spring - Ahead, Fall - Back) just because I'm not a morning person anyhow so I don't get to 'enjoy' the earlier sunrise in the morning.

I'd rather be...

Posed shot, the disc should be out of my hand by this point.
Man, this is what I want to be doing today, I want to be out playing some disc golf and getting better, not sitting at home working. Gaaaaah!

Honestly, I hope that we get to take classes this summer at CSU for this reason, disc golf - not to mention white-water rafting, chillin with Tommy, and just being in Colorado in general is always a good thing.

Eh... back to work.
